Coronary Heart Disease                        -Bradley Min-

Coronary Heart Disease, also known as CHD is a disease related to the heart. The term coronary has a denotation of related to arteries. Coronary Heart Disease is therefore disease caused by a degeneration of heart arteries.
The thickest muscle in our body is the muscle in our heart due to the high pressure that it has to overcome with. Also because of the its duty that it has to pump bloods out to the rest of our body. Thus oxygen molecules and glucose molecules cannot diffuse into the heart when those molecules are crucial to the heart. Our heart needs a constant supply of glucose and oxygen for pumping blood and if it does not have enough amount of those, the heart will stop pumping, which will lead to one’s death. Coronary arteries are the one that supply oxygen and glucose constantly to the heart. Coronary heart disease occurs when the fatty deposits build up in the coronary arteries and narrow them.
The buildup of fatty deposits in the coronary arteries usually get affected by high fat diet. People who eat based on a high fat diet has a higher chance to have a CHD. Eating trans fats also known as bad fats or saturated fats has a massive role in a high fat diet. Saturated fats are found in butter, cheese, red meat and other animal based meats. Eating these foods more than enough will cause high fat diet. The saturated fats cause high cholesterol level and it causes CHD.
There are no fixed treatments for the coronary heart disease but it is definitely possible to prevent it. The most important thing to maintain is the balanced diet and limiting the amount of trans fat consumption. Not getting stress and enough amount of physical activity will lessens trans fat in our body.
My first impressions after the research was not surprising because I already knew most of the information of CHD. However, I thought that it is crucial to limit fat diet and have a balanced diet if I want to live long enough. I was slightly afraid since I love meats especially lamb meats, beef and other red meats which I found all of them contain saturated fat. Also I was quite surprised at the fact that actually a lot of people die because of CHD.
I have few questions that came up to me after the research which are “What will little consumption of saturated fats affect our body? And “What is the good things about saturated fat?” While I was researching about trans fats, I only saw bad sides and the bad effects of saturated fats but I thought it will probably have positive effects on our body.
